· Hockey and figure skates are appropriate. Skates should not bend over at the ankles enough to tip the blades to either side while standing or skating. Recommended skate size is shoe size or smaller. What is the student: teacher ratio?
· One instructor will teach no more than ten students. Can parents skate?
· Parents are not allowed on the ice with their children during classes. Our skating club offers adult classes on Tuesdays and Fridays. How will we know if classes are canceled?
· If there is no school in the city or town where the rink is located due to inclement weather (or other), then classes are canceled and non-refundable. Call the rink if questionable stormy weather on our Saturday sessions. How will the lessons be conducted?
· A short stretching & warm-up period will be followed by the Ice Skating Institute’s Learn-to-Skate Program. Games and toys are used to make skating fun! Will my child be allowed to push a crate?
· Crates will be utilized until your child learns to fall and get up on his/her own (usually for the first two weeks only). If the child can stand on his/her skates, a crate is not necessary and, therefore, will not be used (usually week 3).
